Ground Floor (Left)

History and its sources. Your visit may begin on the ground floor in two rooms devoted to the Prehistoric (4th millennium BC) and Old Kingdom periods (3rd millennium BC), when the Egyptian state was formed, the pyramids were built and when writing was begun. A small gallery to the left is dedicated to the decipherment of hieroglyphs (1822) and to the names of the Egyptian pharaohs as listed on the unique Royal Papyrus. Next to this room you will find an electronic kiosk with computer terminals linked to the IBM Foundation project Eternal Egypt.
